It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we share the news of Rev. Dr. Tim Tang’s passing. While on vacation with friends over the Labour Day weekend, Tim suddenly experienced difficulty breathing. Despite the efforts of paramedics and the hospital medical team, he passed in the early hours of Monday, September 4, 2023.
Tim’s role at East Toronto Community Baptist Church has been immeasurable. During his 20+ years, he has boldly led the reimagining of church through countless initiatives. He established relationships with the Victoria Village hub and other organizations in the community, mentored generations of youth and young adults, built and developed a lay preaching team, enriched the culture of worship through his passion for music, raised awareness of intercultural competence and most importantly, cultivated a network of deep relationships with so many in the ET community and beyond. His care, candor, and sense of humour will be deeply missed by us all.
Please pray for his wife Joanne and their children, Tobin, Mathis and Breylin, not only now, but also in the months and years to come, as they learn to navigate their lives without their beloved life partner and father.
